Our Story

Some ideas start in a classroom. Others start in the silence between a teacher and a student — a moment where something either connects or doesn’t. For Kasie Mainiero, it started with both.

Over years of working within Caddo Parish schools, Kasie saw a pattern that data alone couldn’t explain. Schools with similar demographics, similar resources, and similar challenges were producing wildly different outcomes — not because of programs or policies, but because of something harder to measure: the quality of intentional care systems built by the leadership.

She believed — and the evidence kept confirming — that when students feel genuinely seen, valued, and connected, they show up differently. When teachers feel supported by their colleagues and leaders, they give more. And when a school becomes a place where caring is intentional, consistent, and taught, the transformation doesn’t stop at the school door.

That belief became WeCare Schools — a school culture initiative she built from the ground up in partnership with Community Renewal International, rooted in relational foundations and whole-person development. What started as an idea grew to 25 schools, earned a PBIS Tier 1 designation, and — most importantly — changed how students, staff, and communities experienced their schools.

Rooted Schools Consulting was built to meet that need.

The Founding Conviction

When you teach people to care for each other — really care, consistently and intentionally — you don’t just make schools better. You make neighborhoods safer, communities stronger, and cities more human. It starts in a classroom. It doesn’t end there.
